Lorraine Dowdy

Dr. Lorraine Dowdy, Midway’s Chief Medical Officer, received her DO from Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine. She did a General Rotating Internship at Humana Hospital South Broward in Hollywood, followed by Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Jackson Memorial Hospital / University of Miami School of Medicine. She is currently Board Certified in Infectious Disease.

Dr. Dowdy previously served as Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine, Infectious Diseases Liaison to the Department of Surgery, Division of Transplantation and Infection Control Physician, Tuberculosis and Bloodborne Pathogens Programs, Office of Environmental Health and Safety at the University of Miami. She established the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at Jackson Memorial Hospital and served as chair of the Infection Control subcommittee.

Dr. Dowdy has been published on a number of occasions and has served as Principal Investigator on several research endeavors over the years.

Dr. Dowdy has been in private practice providing inpatient consultations and ambulatory Infectious Disease management. She holds Active staff privileges at Jackson South Community Hospital and Baptist Hospital.
